For over thirty years, AMGIOS volunteers have been collaborating with communities throughout Latin America. After a year of training in local culture, language, first aid, human relations volunteers receive their assignments and set off for five to eight week programs in rural Latin America.
In their host country, volunteers work with locally-based national or international partners who have developed a rapport within a given community. AMIGOS volunteers work with these partners to help local leaders identify their needs, assess their resources and develop work plans for a summer’s worth of work.
For the summer of 2007, AMIGOS has established partnerships in seven countries: Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, and Brazil. Please click here to learn more about these countries and the specific programs proposed for the coming summer.
